My paintings can seem brooding and apocalyptic. But they are also tender and exuberant. They describe the fluid borderland between what is real and surreal, and between what is dying and what is being born. They explore the distance from ‘being here’ to ‘being there.’ I try to show what it feels like to recreate oneself in a world in frantic motion - what it feels like not only to cross a border, but to be one. 

While bright and vibrant, my art also explores psychological solitude, bewilderment, hope and desperation, frustration and hope. These personal perceptions are expressed in my paintings’ straightforward and some times ambiguous perspective. Is this the world as seen through a microscope or through a telescope? Is this a biological image or a snapshot from outer space?  Is it a representation of how today's physical and social world affect us personally? It is all of them.
